SUNSET KAYAK TOUR
Watch an ocean sunset from a kayak - 3:30pm/$60/2.5hrs
Join our friendly guide at 1770 Liquid Adventures on a fully guided sunset kayak tour through the magnificent waters of 1770 and around the Sir Joseph Banks Conservation area. The best way to discover 1770 is from a kayak.
The kayak tour starts at the 1770 foreshore, where you meet your tour guide and fellow paddlers. After pairing up for the double kayaks, we get our gear on and get some tips on safety and paddling techniques.
The clear waters of 1770 are perfect for a kayak adventure. See 1770 from the water and explore with us.
You will paddle past Captain Cook's landing point, stop at a secluded beach or sandbar and then on to the Headland, to spot wild dolphins*, turtles and other marine and bird life.
Enjoy complimentary snacks and drinks.
Finish the day by watching one of 1770′s famous sunsets overlooking Bustard Bay.
If you are over the age of 55 please be aware that this tour can be a challenge for some people! You need to be able to sit in the kayak for a prolonged time and be able to get in and out several times. If you have exisiting back, shoulder or hip problems, this tour may not be for you. If unsure, please call us and have a chat to us!
This tour runs daily, weather depending
DEPARTURE TIME: 3:30pm/2.5hrs
Good to know
Maximum weight per person is 120kg
We use double kayaks. If you are travelling by yourself or in a group with an uneven number, we may pair you up with someone else or ask you to paddle a single kayak.
The dolphins are WILD and we cannot guarantee a sighting. We will always do our very best to spot them and we know where to look for them.
We get affected by wind and tide and some days can be easier than others...please contact us if you are unsure about the weather or your abilities or fitness level.
Please refrain from consuming alcohol prior to the tour.
Assume EVERYTHING can get wet. Don't bring things that aren't going to survive a fall into saltwater!
Some days the tidal currents can be a bit on the strong side and rather than not running a tour at all, we may offer one at a different time of day...If you find your chosen date is not available for online bookings it could be due to that. Just give us a call and we will let you know what happens that day :)

Frequently asked questions
Will I get wet?
Short answer: Yes.
Will I see dolphins?
We cannot guarantee dolphin sightings, as they are wild dolphins.
Do you cancel a tour if it rains?
That depends a little bit... A shower or two won't scare us, especially in summer when it's warm. But if it looks like we will get hammered by rain the entire time, we will cancel.
Is there a weight limit?
Yes. Paddlers must not weigh more than 120kg.
Do many people fall out of the kayak?
Not many, no. We use quality, stable kayaks but it's not impossible to tip them and fall out. Generally, the more weight is in the kayak, the easier they tip over. But it really doesn't happen very often.
Should I wear sunglasses on the tour?
We recommend you do, but be prepeared to lose them if you fall out. If your sunglasses are worth hundreds of dollars, maybe grab a cheap pair or make sure to use sunglass straps.
What should I wear?
Totally up to you! Most people wear swimwear and a t-shirt and shorts over the top.
Do you take children?
Yes, we certainly do. We have a tour especially for families with kids aged between 4 and 12 years old. 10 years and older are welcome on the nature tour if paddling with an adult and 12 years and older can join the sunset tour with an adult.
How hard are the tours?
Do you refund if the tour is cancelled?
You will get a 100% refund if we cancel the tour.
