A Sunset Paddle in 1770 with What’s Up DownUnder

At the start of May, What’s Up DownUnder contacted us about featuring 1770 Liquid Adventures in an upcoming Queensland episode, with filming scheduled for 20 May.
Perfect timing… except I, Janina, had already booked a trip to Germany to visit my family.
So while Simon was back home preparing for filming, I did what any completely relaxed business owner on the other side of the world would do:
I micromanaged the whole thing from Germany. 😂
Different continent. Different time zone. Absolutely no difference to my ability to interfere.
There were messages, reminders and instructions. I may even have reminded Simon to wear a clean shirt.
Apparently I don’t cope particularly well with not being in control.
Thankfully, Simon survived the remote management and filming day arrived.
And then, naturally, the wind turned up too.
It was a pretty breezy start to the day, but Simon and presenter Felicity Palmateer, big-wave surfer and former Australian Survivor contestant, handled it brilliantly.
Our friend Wyanda had perhaps the most important job of all: paddling the cameraman around so he could actually capture everything. No pressure there.
Between the three of them, they managed the conditions beautifully and the result is a lovely little look at our patch of water in the Town of 1770.
The paddle featured in the show is our Sunset Kayak Tour. Exactly where we paddle and stop depends on the tide, weather and conditions on the day, and wildlife does what wildlife wants to do. No guarantees there.
Seeing somewhere we’ve worked since 2011 turn up on national television was pretty special.
You can watch the kayaking segment and the full episode on the official What's Up DownUnder website.

Or you could skip the television and come kayaking with us.
Simon knows what he's doing. Even without instructions from Germany.
