What time should I arrive for my tour?

Please arrive 15 minutes before departure for check-in, equipment fitting and the safety briefing.

Is there a weight limit?

Yes. The maximum is 120kg per person and 190kg combined in a double kayak.

Question 4

How old do you have to be for the kayak tours?

Accepted Answer

The Family Tour is for families with children aged 4–12. The Nature Tour is for ages 10+ and the Sunset Tour is for ages 12+. Under-18s need to be accompanied by an adult.

Do I need to know how to swim?

You should be comfortable around water. Life jackets are provided and must be worn on all tours.

How hard are the tours?

The tours are all very different, but all are suited to beginners. However, we do get affected by wind and tide and some days can be easier than others...please contact us if you are unsure about the weather or your abilities or fitness level.

Do I need kayaking experience?

Accepted Answer

No. You don’t need previous kayaking experience for our guided tours. We’ll get you set up before we head off. You do need a moderate level of fitness for the Sunset and Nature Tours, as you’ll be paddling for around 2.5 to 3 hours and need to be able to get in and out of the kayak.

What happens if the weather or tides aren’t suitable?

Wind and tides affect kayaking in 1770, so conditions play a big part in where and when we paddle. Tour routes can change so we can choose the best area on the day, and kayak hire is weather permitting. If you’re unsure about the forecast, conditions or your fitness level, give us a call and have a chat.

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Cancellations made within 48hrs of departure time incur a 100% cancellation fee. Cancellations made with more than 48hrs notice incur an administration charge of 10% of total booking fee. We encourage customers to purchase travel insurance to cover any unforeseen circumstances.

Will we see dolphins, turtles or other wildlife?

Hopefully! Dolphins, turtles, stingrays, fish, crabs and plenty of birdlife all live around 1770 and Round Hill Creek, but they’re wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed. What we see depends on the tide, season, conditions and where we paddle that day.

How many people are usually on a tour?

We keep our tours small, usually with no more than around 12 paddlers.

I travel by myself, can I join the tours?

Accepted Answer

Yes, you certainly can. We ask you to contact us before making a booking so we can make sure you are happy to paddle a single kayak or be paired up with someone else depending on numbers.

Can I hire a kayak without joining a tour?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. We hire single, double and triple kayaks so you can explore Round Hill Creek at your own pace. Single kayaks start at $25 for one hour and double or triple kayaks start at $35 for one hour, with each additional hour $10. Paddling vests and a dry bag are included.

Can I bring my dog?

We encourage people to bring their dog on a kayak hire. Dog life jackets are available to borrow. Dogs are NOT allowed on any of our guided tours.

Which kayak tour is best for families with children?

Accepted Answer

Our Family Tour is designed specifically for families with children aged 4–12. It departs at 9:30 am, runs for around 2 hours and costs $55 per adult and $45 per child. Kids paddle with an adult, and the tour includes morning tea, wildlife ID slates and free tour photos.

Why book a guided tour instead of just hiring a kayak?

Hiring is great if you simply want to explore Round Hill Creek at your own pace. A guided tour gives you our local knowledge, a route chosen around the tide and conditions, help from an experienced instructor if you need it, and a much better chance of spotting wildlife thanks to years of knowing what to look for and where to look. You’ll also learn more about the local environment, get free tour photos, and you don’t have to work out where to go.
